Seeking
Filipino and Filipino-American actors for Jessica Hagedorn's Dogeaters, a sprawling tale of life in Manila during the Marcos regime.

Preparation
3 minutes of material. One monologue or two short contrasting.

Nestor Noralez and Barbara Villanueva-ageless soap opera stars; the play’s narrators.

Joey Sands-Afro-Filipino hustler and deejay; around sixteen.

Daisy Avila-Senator Avila’s twenty-year old daughter; a beauty queen.

Rio Gonzaga-young mestiza woman of Filipino, American and Spanish ancestry; born in Manila, now living in California.

Leonor Ledesma-General Ledesma’s deeply religious wife.

Father Jean Mallat-nineteenth-century Jesuit priest, explorer and author.

Freddie Gonzaga-Rio’s father; a suave middle-aged man.

Pucha Gonzaga-Rio’s flirtatious cousin; same age as Rio; lives in Manila.

“Uncle”-Joey’s mentor; a middle-aged drug dealer and pimp.
