BREAKDOWN

Please note that the doublings are very fluid and flexible. The roles of Jaques/LeBeau have been cast already.

AS CAST, means that you might be in other scenes to help people the stage or create that ensemble feeling.

seeking

Rosalind - (F) 20's-30's highly intelligent, strong, passionate, regal, daughter of Duke Senior, has a strong sense or morality, knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Does need to be able to pass for a boy; probably one of the most infamous pants roles.

Celia - (F) 20's-30's daughter of Duke Frederick. Like, Rosalind (her cousin) she is intelligent, romantic, follower of Rosalind, sensitive yet assertive when she needs to be.

Orlando - (M) 20's-30's younger brother to Oliver, honorable, eager, passionate and full of potential, but is always trying to reach it.

Jaques/LeBeau - THIS ROLE IS CAST. Male, 30's-40's Jaques is a philosopher and commentator on life, dark--but is surprised by other characters, especially Touchstone. LeBeau is the worrier of the kingdom--and the know-it-all.

Silvius/Charles the Wrestler/As Cast -(M/F) SILVIUS is a blue-collared worker in the Forest of Arden, country-bumpkin, not too bright but driven by his love for Phoebe. CHARLES (the wrestler): physically powerful, in service to Duke Frederick, oversized body and ego.

Duke Frederick/Duke Senior/As Cast - (M) 40's-50's DUKE SENIOR is bohemian(yet Regal) living in exile having been banished by his younger brother (Duke Fredrick) but not angry (rather relieved at his change in fate), natural—but reluctant—leader, father of Rosalind. DUKE FREDERICK is strong and severe, usurper and banisher of Duke Senior, short tempered, obsessed with power. Frederick is the father of Celia and uncle of Rosalind. MUST be able to make very BOLD choices to let us know the difference between these two Duke's…as costume changes are going to be rough…

Oliver/Touchstone/As Cast (M) TOUCHSTONE is a fool at Duke Senior’s Court, dry-witted, quick, highly intelligent, loyal and faithful to Rosalind and Celia, surprised and grateful for his love in Audrey. OLIVER is older brother of Orlando and family heir, focused exclusively on power, cruel and vindictive to Orlando, transformed by his love for Celia.

Corin/Audrey/As Cast (M/F) 40's-50's CORIN is a gentle, warm and kind shepherd who is welcoming to Rosalind and Celia in the Forest of Arden—very much an idealized father figure. AUDREY is a self-reliant Arden resident who collides with Touchstone when they fall in love.

Adam/Phoebe/As Cast (M/F) ADAM is an older gentlemen that has helped in bringing up Orlando and Oliver…he knows their father, and family VERY well. PHOEBE is a resident of Arden, rough around the edges, unrefined, is a ‘big fish in a small pond’, tease and manipulative to Silvius.
