Breakdown
ASF is casting a company of actors to play multiple roles in productions of White Lightning, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Seeking performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds.

White Lightning
[AVERY MCCALLISTER] (Male, Early 20s): handsome, rugged and ‘charming as hell.’ Southern boy who joined the army to stay out of prison. Recently out of the forces at the end of the Second World War. Not very well educated, but very smart. Extremely talented driver. Forced to do some things he may not agree with in order to afford the life he wants.
[DIXIE JAMES] (Female, Described as 19, but can be early 20s): Pretty. Walks with confidence. During the war, Dixie worked on the factory line, but now that the boys have returned she is out of a job and studying accounting. A young woman who will transcend her background. Avery’s girlfriend, she does not approve of the work he does and pushes him to become more and follow his dream of driving race cars.
A Midsummer’s Night Dream
All must be excellent verse speakers.
[TITANIA] (Female, 30s): The Queen of the Fairies. Lithe, athletic, powerful, majestic and enticingly appealing despite anger with her lover: ''…a fairy of no common rate.'' Her quarrel with Oberon disturbs nature, but she still refuses to give up the boy who is at the root of the quarrel. Actress must be excellent with language and handle text with great dexterity.
[HELENA] (Female, 20s): fair, tall, but with rich voice and capable of eliciting amused sympathy. A young lady of Athens. She was wooed by Demetrius and remains obsessively in love with him.
[HERMIA} (Female, 20's): of slight build with good comic timing and brown hair. Efeus’ daughter. She is in love with Lysander and refuses to marry Demetrius despite the threat of death for her refusal.
[DEMETRIUS] (Male, 20s): athletic, physically strong. Possibly more solid than Lysander. A good match for Helena. Not the most admirable of young men. Having wooed Helena and won her heart, he shifts his attentions to Hermia, who will have none of him, but whose father favors him.
[LYSANDER] (Male, 20s): athletic, strong. Possibly taller and thinner than Demetrius. A pleasing match for Hermia. A young man of Athens, of good family and fortune.
[PUCK] Oberon's jester. Reedy physique. Athletic. Inventor of pranks and schemes, sometimes menacing. Capable of displaying good grace in reflection of Oberon's majesty.
