Strength in Members, a consulting company based in Colorado, asked their employees what their dream would be if they had the money to make it come true. Theatre enthusiast Adriana DiFranco applied, writing, "My dream would be...to dance on Broadway".

The Dream:

When I was a little kid, I loved to dance. I danced in my house, on the playground, in the common space outside my apartment door. After a couple years of watching this non-stop hoofing, my parents finally signed me up for dance lessons. There in front of the mirrors with my leotard on, I felt happy and...home.

I took lessons for years and it was something I always looked forward to. My dance teacher once pointed out to the class that I was always smiling when I danced. I never knew it! I just loved performing. I went on to perform musical theater in high school and college but after that...it ended. My participation in musical theater ended and so did my formal dance training.

It's been decades since I've been in a dance class. But sometimes when I see musical theater live or even when I hear the sounds of tap dancing, I feel something well up in me. A giant blast of emotion.

My dream would be....to dance on Broadway.

Incredibly, there is a camp for people just like me. It's called Broadway Fantasy Camp. The camp is set right in the same New York City studios where Broadway professionals train. For two days you are immersed in the world of the tap musical. You're taught by seasoned Broadway performers and choreographers. You're fitted for your costume and at the end you do a little performance for family and friends.

The reason this is a dream and not just some cool vacation is because...even if I had the money set aside, I don't think I'd ever allow myself to spend it on something as completely playful, selfish and dreamy as this.

I'm scared to even send in this application, because...holy cow...what if I got it?! I wouldn't have an excuse!

Adriana's letter won the Dream Grant from Strength in Members.

Broadway Fantasy Camp's job was to fulfill Adriana's Dream Grant.

With DAMES AT SEA opening on Broadway in the fall, Broadway Fantasy Camp engaged DAMES AT SEA Assistant Director and Choreographer, Emily Morgan, to work with Adriana.

In a Broadway rehearsal studio, they will co-star in a performance of "Star Tar" (originally performed by Bernadette Peters) from DAMES AT SEA for Adriana's friends, family and colleagues.

The session takes place at Nola Studios, located at 250 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019, this Saturday, August 22nd, from 1 to 4 PM.
