Curran Theater: Paid Professional Theatre Internships - Curran Live

Curran, a newly renovated and historic 1600-seat live performance venue seeks full- and part-time interns for the spring and summer to join our team.





Built in 1922, the Curran has housed some of the biggest productions in theater history and has maintained a reputation as one of the premier live entertainment venues in North America. Under the curation of eight-time Tony Award-winner Carole Shorenstein Hays, the Curran’s goal is to create a new kind of artistic hub in San Francisco—one that engages new and existing audiences, and attracts the most visionary artists in the world, by presenting bold, daring work.





Internships will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the formation of a theater company modeled after a start-up. A student with a dedication to the arts and a curiosity about what role theatre can play in changing communities will succeed in this company. An ability to thrive in fast-paced environments is a must.







The Curran is looking for part-time and full-time interns in various departments:

Public Relations: Looking for a positive, hardworking intern who is interested in a career in PR. The intern will report to the PR manager and will assist with the planning and execution of opening nights, and various publicity events. The intern will gain hands-on experience working in a for-profit theatre, while also gaining an understanding of Broadway PR through the Curran’s relationship with DKC/O&M.

Marketing: We are looking for a sharp self-starter who would like to dive into the fast-paced world of startup marketing. Candidates must have experience or interest in social media and digital marketing and be able to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.

Arts Administration: We are looking for an intern who is detail-oriented and organized, with strong interpersonal skills. The intern will work with the Administrative Assistant and play a key role in creating reference documents for the the growing company. The internship includes some filing, basic accounting assistance, and general administrative support.

Production: The intern must have a background or interest in Production and Company Management. This intern will assist in coordinating schedules between Marketing, PR, FOH, and BOH load-ins and load-outs for a union house. He or she will report to Production and Operations Manager.



Interns will be paid on an hourly basis and local travel stipends are negotiable. Spring internships begin immediately. We are willing to be flexible with the start and end dates of internships.
