Tom Skerritt Wins Best Actor Award for Indie Film DAY OF DAYS at WIFF World Premiere

Tom Skerritt (Top Gun, Alien, MASH) and Claudia Zevallos, starring in Bass Entertainment Pictures and co-venture partner, Aurum Film Group's, feature, DAY OF DAYS, received best actor awards for their evocative and poignant performances in the well-received independent film at the 11 th annual Women's International Film & Arts Festival held November 3 rd through 6 th in Miami, Florida.

Skerritt stars opposite the only other cast member, Peruvian actress, Claudia Zevallos(A Better Place). The film was primarily shot on a sound stage utilizing a single set. This minimalist production is unlike any film he has worked on before and Skerritt is extremely excited to be a part of the inspirational and groundbreaking film.

An audience favorite, DAY OF DAYS, (a two-character, feature film) with the visceral portrayal of those characters, by Mr. Skerritt and Ms. Zevallos, left many in the appreciative audience deeply moved and reminiscent. Several attendees, at the November 4 th screening, were compelled to share their own, immigration theme-related, personal life experience, during the film's post-world premiere Q & A session which was moderated by WIFF President and Founder, Yvonne McCormackLyons.

Inspired by a true story, DAY OF DAYS, explores the inescapable significance of love, faith, acceptance, self-forgiveness and the most difficult and beautiful of human truths: Life ends and life goes on. This was an extraordinarily emotional and demanding film project for both Skerritt and Zevallos, and is one that they were both deeply passionate about.

"It was a gift," Zevallos, a relative Hollywood newcomer, said about playing the especially complex character of Cuban immigrant, "Marisol."

"It's all about the material," said Skerritt, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning veteran actor, in accepting the role of the 93 year-old, God-fearing recluse, "Walter," a character based on the Bass brothers' 103 year-old, paternal grandfather.

DAY OF DAYS was directed by Kim Bass (Junkyard Dog, Kill Speed), written by Kim Bass (In Living Color, Sister, Sister, A Thin Line Between Love & Hate) and Kyle Bass (Cry For Peace: Voices From The Congo), and produced by Deanna Shapiro, whose previous film, A Better Place, won the Best Independent Film Award at the 2015 Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival. James Parrinello, of Aurum Film Group, Dennis Ho, of Digital Jungle Pictures, and Annette Andersen Caton of Tin Roof Media are executive producers on the film project. Additional film funding was provided by Andesite Capital Management.
