Telemundo's 'Rumbo al Mundial' Ranks #1 Sporting Event on TV

Deportes Telemundo's "Rumbo al Mundial" Soccer World Cup Qualifier between Panama and Mexico (Friday, June 7 at 9PM ET) was the #1 sporting event on television -broadcast or cable- regardless of language among adults 18-49, averaging 1,517,000 adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. The World Cup qualifier, narrated by acclaimed sportscaster Andres Cantor alongside soccer expert Sammy Sadovnick, averaged 2,563,000 total viewers and reached a cumulative audience of more than 5 million viewers.

"Rumbo al Mundial" was the top ranked telecast among total viewers in Los Angeles, Houston and San Francisco regardless of language in the time period. The match also ranked #1 program in Spanish-language television in Houston, Chicago, San Francisco and Phoenix, outranking Univision.

The match generated more than 30,000 social TV interactions ranking among the top 3 most talked about national broadcasts of the day in social media, according to Trendrr Research.

The World Cup qualifier was broadcast just two days after Deportes Telemundo's airing of Jamaica vs. Mexico on June 4, became the #1sporting event on Television regardless of language among total viewers.
