Shakira & Gerard Pique Welcome Second Son!

International pop sensation SHAKIRA gave birth to her second son, Sasha Piqué Mebarak, on January 29th at 9:54pm. This is Shakira's second child with long-time partner Gerard Piqué, a player for FC Barcelona. The couple's first son, Milan, is two years old.

"The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means 'defender of mankind' and 'warrior,'" the birth announcement states. "The hospital confirmed that both mother and child are in excellent health."

This pasty March, Shakira released her self-titled tenth studio album.The record debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the highest-charting album in Shakira's career. It is also her first English-lanuage album since 'She Wolf' in 2009.

In 2012, Shakira appeared as a judge on the popular NBC talent competition 'The Voice', replacing Christina Aguilera. After taking a break during the show's fifth season to record her self-titled album, Sharkira returned to the show for the sixth season. She is not expected to return this year for the seventh season.
