The Hollywood Reporter writes that Pushing Daisies star Anna Friel has signed on for NBC's drama pilot ODYSSEY, from writer/producer Peter Horton. She will be joined by Jake Robinson (The Carrie Diaries) in the cast.

ODYSSEY follows three families entangled in a military conspiracy by way of a female solider, a corporate attorney and a political activist. Adam Armus and Kay Foster (The Following) are set to write the script and produce with Horton, who will direct the pilot.

Friel will play Stranded soldier Sgt. Odelle Ballard, the only woman in her squad who has a husband and child waiting for her at home. Robinson will play Harrison Wolcott, a wealthy, young and rebellious activist protesting the G8 summit in New York.

Friel recently starred in Showtime's The Vatican, as well as the TV movie The Psychopath Next Door. She is well known for her portrayal of Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles in the series Pushing Daisies, and has also appeared on the small screen in The Street, Neverland, Without You, Public Enemies and more. She originated the role of 'Alice' in Closer on Broadway, for which she won a Drama Desk Award in 1999. She also appeared in Uncle Vanya in the West End in 2012.
