NIGHTLINE Improves Week to Week in Both Key Adult Demos

ABC News' "Nightline" averaged 1.088 million Total Viewers, 466,000 Adults 25-54 and 328,000 Adults 18-49 during the week of July 24, 2017, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" beat CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" (382,000 and 283,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+64,000) and Adults 18-49 (+45,000).

"Nightline" improved over the previous week (428,000 and 316,000, respectively, for w/o 7/17/17) in Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+4%).

For the 2nd week in a row, "Nightline" was up year to year in Adults 25-54 (+2% - 446,000 vs. 439,000 for w/o 7/25/16).

"Nightline" narrowed its week-to-week margins with NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in Adults 25-54 (-28% - 69,000 vs. 96,000) and Adults 18-49 (-21% - 89,000 vs. 113,000).

"Nightline" cut its Adults 25-54 gap with NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" from the same week last year (-19% - 69,000 vs. 85,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+100,000 - 1.421 million vs. 1.321 million), Adults 25-54 (+42,000 - 536,000 vs. 494,000) and Adults 18-49 (+24,000 - 404,000 vs. 380,000).

Stories on "Nightline" last week included an in-depth report by Senior Foreign Correspondent Ian Pannell on the front lines in Raqqa, Syria, a family's search for answers after their daughter's death at a Mexico resort, a look at the reactions from LGBT service members and activists after President Trump's ban on transgender individuals from serving in the military and an interview with Cyndi Lauper and "Kinky Boots" star Brendon Urie.

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Dan Harris, Juju Chang and Byron Pitts. Steven Baker is senior broadcast producer. The program airs weeknights from 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, on The ABC Television Network. Together with "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Nightline" is part of ABC's winning late-night strategy of airing news and entertainment programming.
