NBC's THE VOICE Delivers Two of the Week's Top Four in Key Demo

NBC's "The Voice" has delivered two of the week's top four rankings in adults 18-49 among primetime telecasts on the Big 4 networks for the week of April 13-19. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 1.1 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 5.0 million viewers overall for the week.

The Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" ranked #3 and #4 respectively among primetime shows last week on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, as well as adults 25-54, behind only CBS's "Big Bang Theory" and "ACM Awards." The Monday "Voice" also ranked #3 for the week in adults 18-34, men and women 25-54 and men 18-49.

For the 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 as well as men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 18-34.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 8% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.9 million vs. 9.6 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.

Primetime averages for the week of April 13-19 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 1.8/6; ABC, 1.4/5; NBC, 1.1/4; Fox, 1.1/4; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 9.6 million; ABC, 6.1 million; NBC, 5.0 million; Fox, 3.6 million; and CW, 1.6 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.5/8; CBS, 2.4/8; ABC, 2.1/7; Fox, 2.0/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.4 million; NBC, 8.9 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 6.0 million; and CW, 2.1 million.

NBC highlights for the week of April 13-19:

Monday

"The Voice" (2.9/9 in 18-49, 11.0 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranks as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in every key demographic. "The Voice" also won the time period among those nets in all key demos. "The Voice" retained 100% of the prior week's 18-49 rating and grew +1% in total viewers (11.035 million vs. 10.967 million).

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Voice" grew by +22% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 2.89 rating to a 3.54) and by 1.7 million viewers overall (from 11.0 million to 12.7 million).

"The Night Shift" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) retained 93% of the prior week's 18-49 rating (1.3 vs. 1.4) and 99.9% of the previous week's total-viewer result (5.524 million vs. 5.530 million). L+3: "The Night Shift" grew by +31% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.31 to 1.71). In total viewers, "Night Shift" grew by 1.4 million persons (from 5.5 million to 6.9 million).

NBC won Monday night among the Big 4 networks in all key demographics.

Tuesday

"The Voice" (2.5/8 in 18-49, 10.7 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night in adults 18-49 and other key demographics. In the time period, "The Voice" ranked #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; and adults and women 25-54. L+3: "The Voice" increased by +21% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (2.48 to 3.01). In total viewers, "Voice" grew by 1.3 million persons (from 10.7 million to 12.0 million).

"Undateable" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) matched the show's second-highest 18-49 rating ever, behind only this season's premiere (1.9 on March 17). Versus its prior telecast on March 31, "Undateable" was up +7% in 18-49 (1.5 vs. 1.4) and up +3% in total viewers (5.104 million vs. 4.977 million). In the time period, "Undateable" ranked #1 among the Big 4 networks in women 18-34 (with a 1.1 rating). L+3: "Undateable" grew by +14% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.49 to 1.70). In total viewers, "Undateable" increased by 406,000 persons (from 5.1 million to 5.5 million).

"One Big Happy" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 92% of its previous episode's rating in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.2 on March 31), despite last prior week's preemption, and was up versus that previous telecast in men 18-49 by +11% (1.0 vs. 0.9) and in men 25-54 by +8% (1.3 vs. 1.2). L+3: "One Big Happy" grew by +20% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.11 to 1.33). In total viewers, "One Big Happy" increased by 427,000 persons (from 5.1 million to 5.5 million).

An encore telecast of "Chicago Fire" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) equaled the show's best 18-49 rating for an encore since March 25, 2014 (1.0) and generated its top total-viewer result for a rebroadcast since April 1, 2014 (4.242 million).

Wednesday

A rebroadcast of "The Mysteries of Laura" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew versus its prior encore by +33% or 0.2 of a point in adult 18-49 rating (0.8 vs. 0.6 on March 18).

A rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) matched the show's highest 18-49 rating this season for a regular-slot rebroadcast.

An encore telecast of "Chicago P.D." (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) maintained or increased its rating from its first half-hour to its second in every key demographic, despite the 10 p.m. hour, while original drama competition on ABC and CBS was flat or down half-hour to half-hour in all key measures.

Thursday

A rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew from half-hour to half-hour in all key measures. The "SVU" encore increased from its first half-hour to its second by +33% in adults 18-49 (0.6 to 0.8) and by 43% in women 18-49 (0.7 to 1.0).

An encore telecast of "The Blacklist" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET). Upscale: "The Blacklist" has been a strong upscale performer, delivering a 140 index of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3, with 100 representing an average concentration of those homes).

"Dateline NBC" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) equaled the network's top 18-49 rating in the time period in 11 weeks (since the "Parenthood" finale Jan. 29, 1.7) and generated NBC's best results in total viewers in the slot in more than four months (since "Peter Pan Live!" averaged 7.3 million viewrs in the hour on Dec. 4). Despite the 10 p.m. hour, "Dateline NBC" maintained or increased its rating half-hour to half-hour in every key measure, while the ABC and CBS competition was flat or down in all key categories. "Dateline" grew by +13% in adults 25-54 from its first half-hour to its second (1.5 to 1.7) and finished within 0.1 of #1 in the 10:30 half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (1.7 vs. 1.8 for CBS's "Elementary"), nearly erasing a 0.6 margin for "Elementary" during the prior half-hour (1.5 vs. 2.1 from 10-10:30). L+3: The previous week's Thursday "Dateline" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +17% in 18-49 rating (1.12 to 1.31) and in total viewers by 687,000 persons (5.1 million to 5.7 million).

Friday

"Grimm" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) tied for #2 in the time period in adults 18-49, running within 0.1 of the slot lead among the Big 4 networks. "Grimm" retained 91% of the prior week's adult 18-49 rating (1.0 vs. 1.1), 100% of the previous week's adult 18-34 result (0.5 vs. 0.5) and grew +17% in women 18-34 (0.7 vs. 0.6) and +6% in women 25-54 (1.7 vs. 1.6). L+3: The previous week's "Grimm" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +58% in 18-49 rating (1.06 to 1.68) and in total viewers by 1.7 million persons (4.8 million to 6.5 million).

An encore telecast of "Dateline NBC" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew from half-hour to half-hour in nearly all key measures, increasing from its first half-hour to its second by +14% in adults 18-49 (0.7 to 0.8), +18% in adults 25-54 (1.1 to 1.3) and +23% in women 25-54 (1.3 to 1.6).

An original "Dateline NBC" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) built on its lead-in by +25% in adults 18-49, +25% in adults 25-54 (1.5 vs. 1.2) and +22% in total viewers. Despite the 10 p.m. hour, "Dateline" held steady or grew from half-hour to half-hour in all key measures. L+3: The prior week's Friday "Dateline" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +23% in 18-49 rating (1.05 to 1.29) and in total viewers by 830,000 persons (5.3 million to 6.1 million).

Saturday

NBC Sports coverage of Stanley Cup Playoff hockey, featuring the Pittsburgh Penguins at the New York Rangers (0.8/3 in 18-49, 2.2 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET) tied for #2 for the night among the Big 4 nets in adults 18-49 and was #2 outright among those nets in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos. From its first half-hour to its sixth, the Stanley Cup Playoff coverage grew by +140% in adults 18-49 (0.5 to 1.2) and +70% or 1.2 million persons in total viewers (1.7 million to 2.9 million).

Sunday

"Dateline NBC" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) was up week to week by +33% in adults 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.6), +50% in adults 25-54 (1.2 vs. 0.8) and +26% in total viewers (4.3 million vs. 3.4 million).

An encore telecast of "A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) held steady or grew half-hour to half-hour in every key measure.

"A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" (1.2/3 in 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 most-watched scripted show on the Big 4 networks Sunday night. Facing CBS's "Academy of Country Music Awards," "A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" built on its lead-in by +100% in adults 18-49 and by +59% in total viewers. L+3: The previous week's "A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +16% in 18-49 rating (1.68 to 1.95) and in total viewers by 1.0 million persons (7.8 million to 8.8 million).

"American Odyssey" averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET. L+3: The prior week's "American Odyssey" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +17% in 18-49 rating (0.81 to 0.95) and in total viewers by 837,000 persons (4.0 million to 4.9 million).
