NBC's MILLION SECOND QUIZ Grows 27% in Ratings

From 8-10 p.m. ET, "The Million Second Quiz" (1.4 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) is currently topping its prior six telecasts in 18-49 rating and total viewers (best since Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall), pending updates.

Versus both the prior night and the prior Thursday, "Million Second Quiz" is currently up 27% in both comparisons (1.4 from 8-10 p.m. ET vs. 1.1 both nights from 8-9), pending updates. In total viewers, "MSQ" is up 11% Versus the prior night (5.422 million vs. 4.871 million) and up 30% Versus the prior Thursday (5.422 million vs. 4.162 million).

This is NBC's best 18-49 and total-viewer performance in the slot, excluding sports, since the July 4 "Macy's" special and excluding that, since the night of the "Office" finale.

Last night's "Million Second Quiz" built significantly through its time period, increasing by 55% from its fist half-hour to its fourth in 18-49 (to a 1.7 from a 1.1). Pending updates, "MSQ" is currently tied for #1 among the Big 4 for its final half-hour from 9:30-10 (1.7 each for "MSQ" and CBS's "Two and a Half Men" encore). The last nine "MSQs" in a row have build from their first half-hours to their last in 18-49 rating.

At 10 p.m. ET, the NBC News Special "Valerie's Story: A Meredith Vieira Special" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) earned NBC's top total-viewer result in the slot, excluding sports, since July 4. In 18-49 rating, "Valerie's Story" matched the prior two entertainment telecasts in the time period, pending updates. In the hour, "Valerie's Story" is currently tied for #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in women 25-54 and for its second half-hour from 10:30 to 11 is tied for #1 among those nets in the key news demographic of adults 25-54.


In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.6/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.9/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.9/5.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/4.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
