NBC's BIGGEST LOSER Jumps 12% in Key Demo

NBC ranked #1 Tuesday night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, with time-period wins among those nets for "The Biggest Loser" from 8-10 p.m. ET and "Chicago Fire" at 10.

"The Biggest Loser" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 6.6 viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) jumped 12% week to week in 18-49 (to a 1.9 from a 1.7) and by 19% or 1.1 million person in total viewers (6.626 million vs. 5.561 million), for its top results in both measures since Dec. 17.

"The Biggest Loser" ranked #1 in the time period in adults 18-49 and other key demographics among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.

"Chicago Fire" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the 10 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and every other key demographic. "Chicago Fire" matched last week's 18-49 rating and was up 4% in total viewers (7.032 million vs. 6.765 million) to its top result since Dec. 10.

L+3 Time-Shifting: "Chicago Fire" added 49% or 0.88 of a point to last week's next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 2.69 in L+3 from a 1.81 in L+SD) and 2.768 million viewers overall (9.531 million vs. 6.765 million).

NBC is #1 among the Big 4 networks for the night in adults 18-49, women 18-49 and women 25-54 and is tied for #1 among those networks in adults 25-54.


In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 3.2/8; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.3/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.0/5.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/6 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


For the Week:

For the week of Jan. 13-19, NBC averaged a 1.3 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall.

Versus the same week last year, NBC is up 8% in adults 18-49 (to a 1.3 rating from a 1.2), up 11% in adults 18-34 (1.0 vs. 0.9), up 7% in adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 1.5) and up 23% in total viewers (4.6 million viewers vs. 3.7 million).

NBC's top-rated shows of the week in 18-49 included: Monday's "The Blacklist" (#10 among Primetime programs on the Big 4 nets), Monday's "American Ninja Warrior" special (tied for #22), Tuesday's "Chicago P.D." (tied for #25) and Tuesday's "The Biggest Loser" (tied for #28, rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows).

NBC leads the season by 0.3 of a rating point in 18-49 (with a 2.9 rating vs. second-place CBS's 2.6), the biggest margin for any network 17 weeks into the season in six years (since FOX led by 0.3 of a point in 2007-08). NBC's 2.9 matches the net's top rating at this point in the season in six years (since a 3.3 in 2007-08).

Through 17 weeks of the season, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49 and is also #1 in adults 18-34, adults 25-54, men 18-49 and 25-54 and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 (including a tie for #1 with CBS in women 25-54).

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the season with an average of 9.3 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 17 weeks into the season in seven years (since 2006-07, 9.9 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 11% season to date in total viewers (9.3 million vs. 8.4 million).
