NBC NIGHTLY NEWS Delivers Biggest Audience Since March

"NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt" was #1 in total viewers and all categories for the week of September 28 - October 2, delivering the biggest total viewer audience since March (week of 3/23/15) and hitting a five-week high in the key news demo (since week of 8/24/15).

Week-to-week, Nightly posted growth in total viewers (+4% or +323,000), A25-54 viewers (+2%, or +44,000), and A18-49 viewers (+1,000). This marks Nightly's 10th straight across-the-board win and 14th in the 15 weeks since Holt was named anchor.

The NBC broadcast also delivered gains in all categories compared to the same week last season and posted the largest demo growth of the three network newscasts. Nightly was up by +98,000 viewers A25-54 (+5%) this year while ABC declined by -105,000 (-5%).

Nightly has now won among total viewers for 20 of the last 23 weeks and 308 of the last 315 weeks.

Weekly Highlights:

Nightly averaged 8.607 million total viewers, outperforming ABC WORLD NEWS Tonight by +134,000 (+2%) and CBS EVENING NEWS by +1.378 million (+19%).

Nightly has now averaged over 8 million viewers for 7 consecutive weeks.

Nightly averaged 2.040 million A25-54 viewers, +80,000 (+4%) ahead of ABC and +400,000 (+24%) more than CBS.

Compared to the same week last season, Nightly posted a 165% turnaround in the demo gap.

Nightly delivered a 1.7 A25-54 rating, +1 tenth ahead of ABC and +4 tenths more than CBS.

Nightly averaged 1.474 million A18-49 viewers, +120,000 (+9%) higher than ABC and +315,000 (+27%) more than CBS.

Compared to the same week last season, Nightly's advantage over ABC widened by 351%.
Nightly delivered a 1.2 A18-49 rating, +1 tenth more than ABC and +3 tenths more than CBS.
