MTV2 is about to unleash young music superstar Mac Miller on the masses when his new reality series, MAC MILLER AND THE MOST DOPE FAMILY, premieres on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT, following an all-new episode of "Guy Code" at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV2.
To celebrate the premiere, Mac will stage takeovers of both MTV and MTV2's screens during "Mac Miller's Most Dope Weekend Takeover." Kicking off on Thursday, February 21 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, Mac will serve as guest-host during an all-new episode of Rob Dyrdek's "Ridiculousness." The weekend takeover continues on Saturday, February 23 when he returns to MTV to give fans a behind-the-scenes look of his LA mansion and new show during a special airing of "Jackass: The Movie" at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
On Sunday, February 24, MTV2 will go wall-to-wall Most Dope with a full-day line-up of shows featuring the upcoming reality TV star, including "The Dub Magazine Project" at 10:00 a.m. ET/PT, a dedicated episode of "The Week in Jams" at 11:00 ET/PT, "When I Was Seventeen" at 1:00 p.m. ET/PT, and "MTV2's Guy Code" at 3:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The takeover will culminate on Tuesday, February 26 when Mac Miller, along with "Guy Code's" Andrew Schulz, play primetime hosts on MTV2 beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT through the premiere of the show.
"Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family" is a six-part special series that will chronicle the adventures of the young music superstar while he records his next album Watching Movies with the Sound Off and lives the L.A. life with his four closest friends from back home in Pittsburgh: the business mastermind Quentin, the artistically gifted Jimmy, the fashion entrepreneur Peanut, and former NFL player turned bodyguard Big Dave.
MTV has long been a supporter of Mac Miller dating back to March 2011 when the network named him as one of MTV's annual "Artists to Watch" list. Throughout the past two years, Mac has appeared on many of MTV's music properties and shows and made his mark as a PUSH (Play Until Someone Hears) artist in June 2011, featured performer on "Live in Chicago: Mac Miller" live stream that remains the highest traffic single-artist live stream, O Music Awards, mtvU Woodie Awards and the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Tour. In addition, Mac shared his comic chops through appearances on MTV2's comedic game-show series "Hip Hop Squares" and "The Dub Magazine Project," and shared his life story in his own words on MTV's recent series "This Is How I Made It." Mac Miller's debut album released in 2011, Blue Slide Park, made music history as the first independent album to hit #1 on the Billboard 200 top albums chart since the 1990s. To date, Mac has amassed over three million followers on Twitter and was crowned Complex Magazine's "Man of Next Year" in December 2012, building anticipation for a huge 2013 for the emerging megastar.
