The producers of In Focus with Martin Sheen have announced an upcoming report investigating the alarming uptick in sports injuries in young children.

In Focus with Martin Sheen is an independently produced television series airing in markets around the country on public television. The program is hosted by the legendary Martin Sheen, how is about to embark on his second half-century in American entertainment. Mr. Sheen has developed a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most respected actors during a career that includes more than 60 film appearances.

More and more children are involved in organized sports at an early age, and it is leading to an unprecedented incidence of sports-related injuries in children. In Focus Martin Sheen PBS is talking to medical professionals about how growing bodies are vulnerable to strains, sprains, and even bone breaks that are more common in older people. As children push themselves harder through practice and competition, these injuries are becoming more commonplace, often requiring referrals to orthopedic surgeons to help get children back on the field.
