TVguide.com reports that a "highly placed source" who has ties to the recently announced 'Star Wars Episode VII' film, had some exciting news to share with fans of the scifi classic. Referring to the original three stars, Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, he revealed, "Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he's upbeat about it, all three of them are."

The highly anticipated movie is slated to hit theaters some time in 2015. Ford portrayed Han Solo in the first three original installments of the franchise. The news of his interest in returning to the role came as a surprise to many. In the past, the actor has not participated in Star Wars events or cast reunions.

Since portraying Solo in the early '80's, Ford has been featured in the Indiana Jones franchise, as well as such films as Blade Runner, The Fugutive, Sabrina, Witness, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and Air Force One.
