Last night, HBO aired the highly anticipated season finale of the hit series GAME OF THRONES. In the episode, titled 'Children,' an unexpected arrival north of the Wall changes circumstances, Dany is forced to face harsh realities, Bran learns more of his destiny and Tyrion sees the truth of his situation.

As has been the case throughout the season, last night's episode was chock full of twists and turns and unexpected outcomes. Today Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin spoke to EW to give some insight into Tyrion's fatal acts, which were based on the ending of the best-selling author's third Ice and Fire novel, A Storm of Swords.
