ESPN Wins Nine Sports Emmy Awards

On a night that recognizes the best in sports media, ESPN claimed nine Sports Emmy Awards, presented for the 37th year by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences tonight in New York.

ESPN's triumphs at the Sports Emmys were highlighted by E:60 taking home the Outstanding Long Feature and Outstanding Sports News Anthology - the show's 10th and 11th all-time Emmys - 30 for 30: Of Miracles and Men receiving Outstanding Long Sports Documentary - the third straight year ESPN Films has been recognized - COLLEGE GAMEDAY winning Outstanding Studio Show - Weekly for the sixth time, MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL winning its second consecutive Outstanding Post-Produced Graphic Design award, and ESPN DEPORTES winning Outstanding Studio Show in Spanish for SPORTSCENTER Deportes, the network's third win in the category.

ESPN's COLLEGE FOOTBALL Megacast won Outstanding Trans-Media Sports Coverage for the presentation of the COLLEGE FOOTBALL Playoff National Championship and SC: Featured won Outstanding Short Sports Documentary - ESPN's first win in both categories. David Faitelson won Outstanding On-Air Talent in Spanish, joining colleague Ernesto Jerez who won the category last year.

With four Sports Emmys, ESPN's storytelling was honored throughout the night:

E:60 was awarded Outstanding Long Feature for its two-part profile on Ernie Johnson, the show's first in-depth look a media personality. The poignant story focused on Johnson's personal successes and challenges.
E:60's entire body of work was recognized as an industry leader as it took home the Outstanding Sports News Anthology. The show has now taken home 11 Emmy's, with its first coming in 2010.
30 for 30: Of Miracles and Men won Long Sports Documentary, the series' third all-time Sports Emmy. The documentary focused on the other side of the historic 1980 Miracle on Ice - the stunned Soviet team which lost to USA in the Lake Placid Winter Olympics
SC Featured won its first Emmy, taking home Outstanding Short Sports Documentary for its SC Featured: No Excuses, a profile of 7-year old wrestler Isaiah Bird who was born without legs who finds strength on the mat and an unbreakable bond in his coach.
ESPN's football coverage, both college and NFL, was also highlighted:

College GameDay won its sixth overall (2008, 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2015) and third consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Studio Show - Weekly. Impressively, the win gives ESPN 19 Emmys for Outstanding Studio Show - a combination of both daily and weekly.
The 2016 edition of the COLLEGE FOOTBALL Megacast won Outstanding Trans-Media Sports Coverage for its production of the COLLEGE FOOTBALL Playoff National Championship game. ESPN aired the traditional game telecast between Clemson and Alabama while14 alternate productions were available across ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Classic, ESPNEWS, and ESPN3, in addition to ESPN Radio's broadcas
Monday Night Football took home Outstanding Post-Produced Graphic Design for enhanced content graphics; it is the second consecutive year MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL won the award.
ESPN Deportes was recognized once again, the third-consecutive year the network received Emmys:

David Faitelson won Outstanding On-Air Personality in Spanish, ESPN's second consecutive win in the category.
SportsCenter Deportes won Outstanding Studio Show in Spanish, ESPN DEPORTES third win in the category.
ESPN has now has 180 Sports Emmy Awards in 29 years of eligibility
