Watch out puppies- she's back.

Disney has announced they are developing a live-action film about the greedy puppy-kidnapper, Cruella De Vil. This is the fourth live-action adaptation of a Disney cartoon planned through 2020, alongside previously announced THE JUNGLE BOOK, ALICE TRHOUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel (SAVING MR. BANKS, FIFTY SHADES OF GREY) is currently attached to the 101 DALMATIONS-based project, entitled CRUELLA. Presumably, CRUELLA will be a backstory on the evil character, much in the same vein as MALEFICENT. However, Disney has yet to release a synopsis.

No word yet on casting, but it should be noted that Broadway actress Glenn Close portrayed the villainess in the 1996 live-action adaptation of 101 DALMATIONS and its later sequel, 102 DALMATIANS in 2000. Might they pull Close in to reprise her role yet again? Keep checking with BWW for the latest scoop!
