Chyler Leigh, best known for her role on GREY'S ANATOMY, has signed on to star in NBC's upcoming comedy pilot HOLDING PATTERNS, Deadline has confirmed.

The actress, who departed ABC's long-running medical drama last season, joins previously announced Humphrey Ker for the project from Justin Spitzer.

The comedy follows a group of friends whose lives are forever changed after they all survive a plane crash. Leigh's character 'Leah,' the sarcastic leader of the group, is the cause of the unintentional crash. Peter Traugott's TBD Prods and Universal TV are set to produce the pilot for NBC.

Ironically, Chyler's character on ANATOMY, 'Lexie Grey,' was killed after a plane carrying the doctors went down.
