The Reel 13 summer schedule opens on July 4 with Robert Benton's drama Kramer vs. Kramer about a just-divorced career man who must learn to take care of his son on his own and then must fight in court to keep custody of him. The film was recognized with Academy Awards for "Best Picture," "Best Director," and "Best Adapted Screenplay." Dustin Hoffman was also honored with "Best Actor" for his portrayal of a workaholic advertising executive and Meryl Streep received a "Best Supporting Actress" nod for her role as his wife Joanna.

Peter Bogdanovich's Academy Award-winning coming of age film The Last Picture Show follows on July 11. The film received eight nominations, winning in the "Best Supporting Actor" and "Best Supporting Actress" categories.

Woody Allen's critically praised and Academy Award-winning film Annie Hall, about an up and down relationship between a New York City comedian and his struggling night club singer girlfriend, concludes the month's Classic lineup on July 25. The film won four out of THE FIVE categories for which it was nominated including "Best Picture," "Best Director," and "Best Original Screenplay," while Diane Keaton was recognized in the "Best Actress" category.

July's independent films include Sunset Stories with Jim Parsons and Zosia Mamet and Not Waving But Drowning with Adam Driver.

Every Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., viewers can catch a Hollywood Classic followed by an Indie, hosted by Columbia University professor Richard Peña and by film historian Neal Gabler. The evening concludes with a Short film selected by viewers who vote for their favorite of three shorts at Reel13.org.
