AMY's Asif Kapadia and James Gay-Rees have won the Academy Award for Feature Documentary. This was their first Oscar nomination.

About the film: British singer Amy Winehouse, a six-time Grammy® winner who died at the age of 27 in 2011 from the cumulative effects of substance abuse, had a turbulent LIFE AFTER her powerful singing voice was discovered and she was propelled to fame. Her strong personality, complicated marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil and love-hate relationship with the press are reflected in her music.

Other films nominated in the category include: Amy, WHAT HAPPENED, MISS SIMONE? Cartel Land Winter on Fire and The Look of Silence.

The 88th ACADEMY AWARDS are taking place tonight, Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and are being televised live by the ABCTelevision Network. The Oscar presentation is also being televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide. Comedian, actor and filmmaker Chris Rock returns as host of the event for a second time.
