Darkhorizons.com reports that Eleventh Hour Films has decided to turn the Anthony Horowitz "Alex Rider" novels into a TV series for ITV. The book series will follow the adventures of teenage super-spy Rider on his missions to save the world. The announcement of a TV adaptation comes as Horowitz releases his 10th Rider book, "Never Say Die."

Guy Burt ("The Borgias,") is set to pen the series. The TV series will try to target an older audience than the novels, which targets teen boys, and will be presented a drama for family audiences.

Horowitz created the series in 2000, and it has since racked up sixteen million book sales for the English-language editions alone across ten novels. The Alex Rider series was adapted for the big screen with The Weinstein Company's 2006 feature "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker," which had a screenplay from Horowitz and starred Alex Pettyfer in the role.
