MY GOODNESS

Guitarist Joel Schneider and drummer Ethan Jacobson epitomize the purest distillation of rock, blues, and punk. They both hail from other notable Seattle bands (The Absolute Monarchs, Tourists) but their particular sonic chemistry became immediately apparent when they began playing together. “Schneider struts and hollers, the quiver in his voice and the confidence in his bluesy guitar swagger are reminiscent of Jon Spencer’s brash balls, but with more Fugazi-esque finesse,” says DJ Hannah Levin following a live in-studio session with KEXP. “He and drummer Ethan Jacobsen […] have that unmistakable lightning in a bottle quality.” Prior to joining forces, Joel and Ethan both felt they needed to keep that distinct “lightning” quality under wraps. When the duo finally sat down to make music together, however, they sensed they could finally bring that piece of themselves to the table -- a feeling they refer to as their “goodness.” From that fated moment sprung their band name and a striking sound that has since been described as subtly addictive. My Goodness was cited by City Arts magazine as one of 2010’s best new bands, earning them the #3 spot on a list of favorite artists compiled by Seattle’s most esteemed music industry professionals. They are described by Chris Kornelis, Music Editor for Seattle Weekly, as a band who “[…] packs an incendiary live show to further the parallels,” and as “the standard against which I’m measuring everyone else doing rock in Seattle,” by Josh Lavseth, co-founder of Sound on the Sound. My Goodness are releasing their debut, self-titled album with Seattle label Sarathan Records, to be distributed by Fontana Distribution on April 19th. The upcoming album was engineered by Chris Common (These Arms are Snakes) at Red Room studios and was recorded entirely analog, a rare feat for a fresh act releasing their first LP! In succession with their new album’s release, My Goodness will be going on a cross-country excursion to spread the word. Though this will be their first U.S. tour, there exists no doubt among those in the know that My Goodness’ reputation will precede them. A sound like theirs is destined to effortlessly rip across the country and into the heart of rock and roll.
