CURTIS STIGERS - PAST CONCERTS

BIO:
For two decades, singer/saxophonist/songwriter Curtis Stigers has demonstrated that the lines between jazz, pop, soul, rock, blues, and even country are not as clearly defined as they may seem. Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, Stigers spent his school years playing drums in rock bands. and studying clarinet and saxophone at school – two instruments that awakened his jazz sensibilities at an early age. During his teenage years, he sat in regularly with legendary jazz pianist Gene Harris, who held weekly jam sessions at a local club in Boise. Curtis Stigers’s self-titled 1991 debut album on Arista sold 1.5 million copies worldwide, thanks to several self-penned pop/soul hit singles. In addition to tours with Eric Clapton, Elton John and Bonnie Raitt, and several Tonight Show and Letterman appearances, duets with Al Green, Jules Shear, and Julia Fordham, Stigers recorded a track for the wildly successful soundtrack to the Whitney Houston film “The Bodyguard.” Since 2001, Stigers has been recording with the Concord Jazz label, which, in April 2012, released Let’s Go Out Tonight, his 10th studio album (his 7th for Concord Jazz). In a trajectory that began with pop/soul albums in the early ‘90s, the vocalist-saxophonist-songwriter has spent the past several years cementing his reputation as a formidable jazz singer – one who recognizes the value of the story within the song, and the countless ways in which that story can be told. Curtis Stigers is also the singer and Emmy nominated co-writer of the theme song for the hit television series "The Sons Of Anarchy."
