BRIAN JORDAN


BIO:
Being a native of Southern California, musician/songwriter/composer, Brian Jordan delivers his sultry sound to audiences around the world with a unique flair. As leader of, “Brian Jordan Band”, Brian has thrilled many audiences with his own brand of rock infused groove music. As well, recent collaborations with DJ Logic and Willie Waldman Project have brought a new level of fluid, danceable, eclectic and fully improvisational performance! Leading up to now, Brian spent 12 years as guitarist with the band, "Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe". He has also performed and recorded with Grammy Award winning artist, Lauryn Hill and appeared numerous times with the house band on the NBC television show, “Last Call with Carson Daly. Other projects that Brian has been associated with include "Blu Sirkut", “Banyan” which features drummer Stephen Perkins of Janes Addiction and the “The Motherlode Band”. Brian has also performed in projects with Zigaboo Modeliste of the The Meters, Greg Errico and Cynthia Robinson of Sly and the Family Stone and Bernie Worrell of Parliament/Funkadelic/Talking Heads. Brian has also shared the stage and swapped licks with many luminaries such as James Brown, Dave Mathews, Lenny Kravitz, Bob Weir, "The Allman Brothers Band", Fred Wesley, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. .... As a recording and performing artist Brian exhibits a diverse array of influences while honing in on his own style. His sound recalls elements of classic to modern American musical flavors, World music consciousness, and 100% Soul! Brian’s musical journey started in his home town of San Diego, CA. At the age of eight he got his first guitar. He later studied percussion in middle & high schools and taught himself bass guitar. In college, Brian studied Classical and Jazz music, as well as composition at U.C. Santa Barbara. Shortly after, he formed his first original music projects. One of these included an eclectic Punk/Alternative band, ”Daddy Longleggs”, co-founded with Robert Walter, Damien Dunmore and Mike Watson in San Diego. Upon widening his cultural and musical awareness, Brian found himself traveling around the world with different World Music artists such as Ishmael Sealy (Barbados), Victor Essiet (Nigeria) and Jamaican reggae group “Foundation”. Upon focusing his talents in the Funk/Jazz realm, Brian subsequently embarked on a 12 year stint with the Funk/Jazz band, “Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe”. To date, Brian has shared the stage and played with many notables such as James Brown, Dave Mathews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Fred Wesley, Bernie Worrell, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Bob Weir and many more world class musicians. Brian has definitely shared his passion for music with music fans around the world. And, that is the driving force behind his music!
