Scream Nation Hosts Ultimate Mad DJ Contest Finale Today

Today, June 19, 2015, Scream Nation and Michael Mauldin, in association with Radio One, Hot 107.9 and Boom 102.9, will hold The Ultimate MAD DJ Contest - City vs. Everybody finale in Atlanta, GA. Taking place at The Tabernacle (152 Luckie Street NW), this event is the culmination of a nationwide DJ search that will give the grand prize winner the opportunity to serve as the official tour DJ for Scream Nation's upcoming Arena Bowl Tour kicking off in September.

The Ultimate MAD DJ Contest finale will kick-off Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash 20 Weekend and will be hosted by the world renowned DJ Nabs. Founder of the MAD DJ Academy, Nabs, who can be heard on Atlanta's Boom 102.9, has worked alongside superstar artists including, Michael Jackson, Jermaine Dupri, and Kris Kross. The finale will feature twelve finalists (Princess Cut, DJ P Dogg, DJ C2, DJ Exile, Young Music, DJ Nikki Gunz, DJ Em Cee, Queen HD, Eddie Swift, DJ NVS Styles, Kwiet Storm and Double J) from various cities across the U.S. The DJs will be judged on song selection, showmanship and their mixing and scratching skills. Along with a featured slot on the Arena Bowl Tour, the top winner will also receive a week-long guest spot on Boom 102.9 and the title of the Ultimate MAD DJ along with other prizes.

Co-created by DJ Nabs and Scream Nation CEO and entertainment industry veteran Michael Mauldin, the Ultimate MAD DJ Contest aims to showcase emerging talent in one of the most important areas of hip-hop culture, DJ-ing. When it comes to new talent Mauldin says, "I've always been able to identify talent, or identify what's next or what's going to make a tremendous impact in our culture. I want to do things that last, I am good at creating something from nothing and making it grow. The idea is affect change among the next generation and use the urban culture, particularly hip-hop, to push that forward". DJ Nabs adds, "I've lived most of my teenage years and all of my adult life as a DJ and I feel we have an opportunity to mentor the next generation of leaders in the hip-hop and DJ communities through the MAD DJ platform. I'm happy to be working with Michael Mauldin and Scream Nation to help advance this message and mission".

The Ultimate MAD DJ Contest is one of several events leading up to Scream Nation's 33-city, back-to-school Arena Bowl Tour in the fall. Scream Nation, a joint venture with Live Nation, arose from the extremely successful Scream Tour franchise, which was created 15 years ago by Michael Mauldin and which helped to catapult the careers of artists including, Ciara, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and T.I.
