MTV Unveils ECHOSMITH as 2014 'Artist To Watch'

Having successfully launched artists including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Zedd, Hunter Hayes and Austin Mahone last year, MTV today revealed the twelve artists selected for its 2014 "Artist to Watch" music discovery campaign. This year's class features an eclectic mix of artists spanning the globe including Warner Bros. own Echosmith. The band joins fellow artists in MTV's class of 2014 which includes Chvrches, Bastille, Danny Brown, Fifth Harmony, Jake Miller and more.

Launched last year, MTV's "Artist to Watch" campaign connects fans and artists across every screen. Every two weeks, MTV will select and then feature a new "Artist to Watch" to be showcased across MTV's various television channels (including MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits and MTV Jams), websites/apps (including MTV.com, MTV Artists, MTV News,) and social networks (including @MTV,MTV on Facebook, MTV on Instagram, MTV on Tumblr). MTV will showcase exclusive content across its various channels including live performances, interviews, video rotation, song placements in shows and more.

To kickoff the campaign, MTV is hosting its annual "Artist to Watch" showcase at LA's famed House of Blues on Thursday, January 23 with Echosmith, Fifth Harmony, Jake Miller, Tori Kelly andRixton hosted by Teen Wolf's Tyler Posey. Additionally, the showcase, will be live streamed onMTV.com and sponsored exclusively by Honda. MTV will host additional "Artist to Watch" events throughout the year.

The "Artist to Watch" class of 2013 included Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Zedd, Hunter Hayes, Austin Mahone, The Weeknd, Jessie Ware and others. After being featured as an "Artist to Watch," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis scored two #1 singles, and were the first artist in HISTORY to play all three MTV tentpoles (mtvU Woodies, MTV Movie Awards, MTV VMAs) in a single calendar year. They went on to win three VMAs including "Best Hip Hop Video" and "Best Video with a Social Message."

Echosmith - Los Angeles-based alt-pop quartet, whose debut album "Talking Dreams" is out now via WBR, has been receiving early praise since the beginning of their young career. Named one of the "100 Bands to Watch in 2013" by Alternative Press, their first single "Cool Kids" was selected as an iTunes Single of the Week, in addition to recently being one of the top 10 most viral tracks on Spotify.
