VIDEO: Anne Hathaway Talks Oscar Backlash; New Film SONG ONE
In an exclusive interview with MTV News Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway spoke about her upcoming film SONG ONE as well as the internet backlash she experienced following her Oscar win for Best Supporting actress in last year's 'Les Miserables.' Watch the interview below!
"We had been working on the script for almost two years before we actually started shooting. All of the elements came together in that moment," Hathaway said of the new film. "I don't want to bring up a sore subject or anything - I think my publicist is probably like 'No, no no' - but I had just taken a little bit of a beating from the internet."
"It was the greatest thing in the world to get to work with my friends and get to go to work every day and bring Kate's vision to life, which is a vision that I believe in," she continued. "I felt like it was really cool. I felt like I had a secret."
SONG ONE is being helmed by Kate Barker-Froyland from her own screenplay. The independent film focuses on an up-and-coming rock singer, played by Irish musician Johnny Flynn. Hathway will take on the role of Flynn's girlfriend, although it was not confirmed if the actress will perform any songs in the film.
Hathaway recently won a Golden Globe Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award, the BAFTA Award and the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in February for her performance in the global blockbuster LES MISERABLES.
