According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seth Rogen is set to direct and star in Columbia Pictures upcoming comedy THE INTERVIEW. THR also reports that James Franco, Rogen's co-star in 'Pineapple Express' is also up for a lead role in the film.

Rogan may helm the latest project with his 'This Is the End' co-director Evan Goldberg. The duo have also co-written the screenplay and will co-produce.

The Interview, described as a "topical comedy," is based on a story by Goldberg, Rogen and 'The Daily Show's Dan Sterling. It follows "a handsome talk show host (potentially Franco) and his producer (Rogen) who find themselves in way over their heads when they get involved in a plot to assassinate the prime minister of North Korea."

Rogen will soon begin filming The Comedy Townies for Universal Pictures. This Is the End, produced by Rogen and Goldberg's Point Grey Pictures, is set to open in theaters on June 14.
