Morena Baccarin Lands Female Lead in X-MEN Spinoff DEADPOOL

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HOMELAND's Morena Baccarin has landed the lead role in the upcoming X-MEN spinoff DEADPOOL.

Baccarin will star opposite Ryan Reynolds in the 20th Century Fox film, helmed by Tim Miller. Reynolds previously played the reckless mercenary in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE.

ARROW's Jessica De Gouw, VIKINGS' Sarah Greene, TEEN WOLF's Crystal Reed, THE RED BAND SOCIETY's Rebecca Rittenhouse and ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK's Taylor Schilling were also under consideration for the role.

DEADPOOL will hit theaters on February 12, 2016.

Besides HOMELAND, Baccarin is also known for her roles on THE MENTALIST, and GOTHAM this season. She also recently signed on to lead ABC's upcoming drama pilot WARRIOR.
