USA Today reports that the latest casting rumors have 34-year-old Katie Holmes in the mix to star in the role of Elena Lincoln in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY.

Recently it was confirmed that Jamie Dornan would take over the role of billionaire Christian Grey, after Charlie Hunnam dropped out citing personal reasons. Dakota Johnson is set for the lead role of Anastasia Steele while Victor Rasuk will portray Ana's photographer friend Jose and Luke Grimes will star as Christian's brother, Elliot.

No details or confirmation on Holmes casting has been released.

Holmes began her career in the role of Joey Potter on The WB teen drama Dawson's Creek from 1998 to 2003. Since Dawson's Creek, she has taken on movie roles such as Batman Begins, The Ice Storm, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and Abandon.

She has also played on Broadway in a production of Arthur Miller's All My Sons and had various guest roles on television programs such as How I Met Your Mother.
