Jason Statham in Talks to Join Melissa McCarthy in Paul Feig's SUSAN COOPER

Jason Statham and Melissa McCarthy may soon be taking the big-screen together.

Deadline reports that the action star has met with director Paul Feig in order to discuss joining the actress in the upcoming spy comedy SUSAN COOPER.

The film is currently being billed as a realistic comedy, lead by a female James Bond-type. Should the film do well at the box office, the film will reportedly become a franchise.

Should he sign on, Statham would play a colleague of McCarthy, who would take on the titular role.

As reported last week, McCarthy's BRIDESMAIDS co-star Rose Byrne has also entered talks for a role.

The Irish-American actress, writer and producer, who hosted SNL in Oct. 2011, has received nominations for a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role as well as a Critic's Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress for her hilarious portrayal as Megan in the SMASH hit comedy "Bridesmaids." She played the confident sister of the groom opposite Kristen Wiig. She recently starred opposite Jason Bateman in IDENTITY THIEF, and can next be seen in THE HEAT.

McCarthy received an Emmy Award for her title role in "Mike & Molly," the hit comedy series, which airs on CBS.
