According to The Hollywood Reporter, Drew Barrymore is set to direct Warner Bros. upcoming drama THE END. Aron Eli Coleite penned the script about a group of people who face their last day on Earth.

According to the report, the film "takes a 180-degree approach to the usual apocalypse scenario and instead focuses on several people as they reconcile their fate on Earth's last day. End is meant to be uplifting and humanistic rather than a downer, a meditation not on death but on life."

The End will focus on several different storylines including that of a London radio host who plans to remain on the air until the end, a father struggling to make his way through the chaos in Tokyo in order to reach his wife and baby and a teenage couple who live in the American Midwest.

Barrymore made her directorial debut in the roller derby film Whip It, starring Ellen Page and Kristen Wiig. She will reportedly direct and produce the upcoming thriller Heist Society, also for Warners, and How to Be Single, for New Line. Her film credits include Poison Ivy, Bad Girls, Boys on the Side, Everyone Says I Love You, The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates.
