Movieweb.com reports that Ben Stiller is currently in talks to helm Warner Bros upcoming live-action reboot of the children's classic PINOCCIO. Robert Downey Jr. is set to take on the role of "Geppetto", while at the same time serve as producer along with his wife Susan Downey.

The rumor of Stiller's involvement in the project began when Downey Jr. revealed in an interview for Iron Man 3 that he hoped the actor would take over the reins following the departure of original director Tim Burton. The duo have previously worked together in 2008's Tropic Thunder.

While no plotline details have been revealed, the Iron Man star shared that he hoped to "go in a different direction than the movie he had planned with Tim Burton."

Stiller's latest directing project is the upcoming The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, opening in theaters on Christmas Day. Pinocchio is set to hit theaters later this year.
