The Houston Symphony and Principal POPS Conductor Michael Krajewski will be presenting the world premiere of The Paintjam Concert Experience on May 22-24 at Jones Hall.

The program features internationally-acclaimed Houston-based speed painter, Dan Dunn, as he brings music to life in a highly visual and spontaneous presentation. Using paint, sand, glass and canvas, Dan choreographs his theatrical performances to music at astonishing speed. On May 22, 23 and 24, Dan is expected to create eight works of art inspired by the sounds of the orchestra featuring songs like Tyzik's The Great Westerns Suite, Bohemian Rhapsody, music from Gladiator, John Lennon's Imagine, selections from Ravel's Mother Goose, and more. Additionally, one lucky audience member will be selected at random to participate in an on-stage activity with Dan.

Local audiences may remember Dan and his grand improvisational style from last year's Houston Symphony Star-Spangled Salute concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre where he wowed audiences with his spontaneous style, choreographing paintings to patriotic, toe-tapping tunes. Dan also made quite an impression at a Houston Texans game a few years ago, causing the stadium to erupt into cheers after painting the beloved star defender J.J. Watt in a fun half-time show performance.

With more than 30 years of experience in painting, illustration and design, Dan has taken his improvisational, energetic art form across the world and appeared on several national TV shows, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Rachel Ray Show among many others. Additionally, he has earned many national awards and has been commissioned to draw caricatures and portraits of President George H. W. Bush, Sting, Simon Cowell and Jimmy Buffett, just to name a few. His portrait of the Columbia astronauts hangs at NASA.

Following each Paintjam Concert Experience performance, the paintings created by Dan Dunn will be auctioned in a live auction by a professional auctioneer. Registration will take place prior to the performance, during intermission and post-concert at the in-lobby Symphony Store. Artwork will be reserved at a minimum bid and sold As Is-Where Is.

Unless otherwise noted, all concerts take place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana Street, in Houston's Theater District. For tickets and information, please call (713) 224-7575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the Houston Symphony Patron Services Center in Jones Hall (Monday - Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). All programs and artists are subject to change.
