The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestras (RIPYO) will present their second concert of the season, titled "A Day at the Museum," Sunday January 18 at 3pm at the VETS in Providence. The concert will feature the top-level Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Alexey Shabalin, Repertory Orchestra under the direction of Vincent Mattera,String Orchestra under the direction of Irina Naryshkova and the Intermediate String Ensemble and String Ensemble under the direction of Erin Quinton Erban. Tickets are $11 adult, $6 student and senior citizen, and are available at the door on the day of the performance.

The Symphony Orchestra will perform Modest Moussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, a suite in ten movements interpreting the art of Viktor Hartmann. In collaboration with Paul Cuffee School of Providence, students grades K-12 have created artwork inspired by the Moussorgsky's composition and the art of Hartmann. This art will be featured on screen throughout the concert.

RIPYO provides quality orchestral rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians in from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. Students range in age from elementary school through high school. TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 7pm

YOUTH WIND ENSEMBLES

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles (RIPYWE) will present their first concert of the season Tuesday November 27 at 7pm at Sapinsley Hall, Rhode Island College. The concert will include the RIPYWE Senior Division under the direction of Eric Hewitt and the RIPYWE Junior Division under the direction of David Neves. Tickets are $11 adult, $6 student and senior citizen, and are available through the Rhode Island College box office http://www.ric.edu/pfa/orderinfo.php or 401.456-8144.

RIPYWE Senior performs Vaughn-Williams' Flourish for Wind Band, March and Procession of Bacchus by Delibes/ arr. Osterling, Colgrass' Old Churches, Holst's Suite No. 2 in F, and Persichetti's Pageant music of Bernstein, Grainger and Hanssen. RIPYWE Junior performs the music of Holst, Ticheli, Christopher W. Johnson, W. Francis McBeth and John Philip Sousa.

RIPYWE provides quality wind ensemble rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. RIPYWE Senior is designed for students in grades 9 - 12 and RIPYWE Junior is for students in grades 7 - 10. ABOUT THE RHODE ISLAND PHILHARMONIC MUSIC SCHOOL

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School is the state's first and only community music school.
