The Boston Landmarks Orchestra Honors Adelaide 'Smoki' Bacon Tonight

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra will honor its longtime friend and current overseerAdelaide "Smoki" Bacon for decades of dedication to the quality of life of all Bostonians and celebrate with her as she turns 86½! at its annual Gala tonight, June 18, 2014. Author and columnist Karen Cord Taylor says in her new book Legendary Locals of Beacon Hill, to be published by Arcadia Publishing in 2014, "Smoki Bacon and her husband Dick Concannon have been friends or colleagues of every important Bostonian and have participated in every major Boston event for the last 40 years. Theirs is a tale of tragedy, recovery, romance, involvement and fun. In their long lives they have witnessed Boston's change from tribal division and dull convention to energetic, creative diversity. They were prime movers in making Boston change."
