Roulette Presents USA Premiere of ELLIOT SHARP'S SYSORK Tonight
Roulette presents the USA Premiere of Elliott Sharp's SysOrk, tonight, March 12 at 8pm. SysOrk, for this concert, will feature: Andrew Drury on drums and percussion, Terry Greene on trombone, James Ilgenfritz on contrabass, Judith Insell on viola, Ron Lawrence on viola, Tim Leopold on trumpet, Jenny Lin on piano, Chris McIntyre on trombone, Oscar Noriega on reeds, Jessica Pavone on viola, Reuben Radding on contrabass, Danny Tunick on percussion and vibraphone, Elliott Sharp on electroacoustic guitar and bass clarinet.
SysOrk is a large ensemble dedicated to performing algorithmic scores, graphic notation, and conductions created by composer and multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp. For this first NYC concert of SysOrk, the ensemble will premiere the projected graphic score Sylva Sylvarum as well as performing Flexagons, an algorithmic score composed in 2011.
SysOrk is neither fixed in personnel nor location but instead is situationally based. SysOrk debuted in December 2012 with concerts in Nagoya and Tokyo performing Sharp's graphic score Foliage.
Roulette - one of New York City's premiere venues for experimental music for over 33 years - has reopened bigger and better than ever. Located in a newly renovated 1920s Art Deco concert hall in Downtown Brooklyn, the new Roulette features two levels of seating for up to 400 people (600 standing), an expanded multi-channel sound system, projection screen for film and multi-media events, state-of-the-art lighting system, modular stage, and a specially designed floor to accommodate dance. Teamed with bold new programming, the new Roulette promises to be one of the most exciting places in New York City - if not the country - to experience adventurous music and art.
