Hershey Symphony Orchestra to Present Free July 4th Concert at Penn State Hershey Medical Center

The Hershey Symphony Orchestra invites the community to celebrate the Fourth of July with the 11th annual free concert on the lawn of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

The orchestra's performance entitled, "An American Salute" begins at 7:30 p.m., and Penn State Nursing will offer Wellness Activities for guests beginning at 6:15 p.m. The lawn also provides a great view of the Hersheypark fireworks at 10 p.m.

Complimentary water and ice cream will be provided by Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Food and drink for purchase will be offered by Keystone Smokehouse BBQ, Bricker's French Fries, Taste of Heaven Kettle Corn, Didoughs Pretzels, and Mel's Sweet Cakes & Lemon Shakes.

"It is a holiday tradition for our musicians and the community to celebrate the birth of our country with our concert on the lawn of the Medical Center," said Hershey Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Paul Metzger.

The first half of the concert will feature selections of POPs music and light classics. For the second half of the concert, the Orchestra will present "A Salute to America," accompanied by Hershey Symphony Orchestra vocalists. These selections will celebrate America and provide a special tribute to the military.

The concert is sponsored by Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, The Hershey Lodge, Sutliff Chevrolet and Hershey Symphony Orchestra. Parking is free and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Orchestra.

For more than four decades, the Hershey Symphony Orchestra has entertained music lovers throughout Central Pennsylvania. Comprised of accomplished local musicians, the Hershey Symphony Orchestra is proud to enrich the community with its gift of music. Established in 1969 as a chamber ensemble by a group of musicians at the Hershey Medical Center, the Hershey Symphony has grown to be one of the largest volunteer orchestras in the nation with eighty-plus members from throughout central Pennsylvania.
