SCU•PRESENTS will feature the Faculty, Staff and Students at Santa Clara University in the Fall 2013 Music Season, which includes FOLKSONGS, RITUALS AND RITES OF PASSAGE, featuring SCU faculty member, Teresa McCollough on the piano with special guest artist, Michael Boyd. SCU•PRESENTS is also proud to announce three new Music Directors and Conductors joining the Department of Music; John Kennedy, Music Director & Conductor, of the Santa Clara University Orchestra, Dr. Douglas Harris, Director of Bands, Santa Clara University Wind Symphony and Jazz Band and Scot Hanna-Weir, Music Director and Conductor, Santa Clara University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers.
Included in the fall line-up and Back by Popular Demand, the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS featuring the Santa Clara University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. This traditional holiday choral concert ushers in the Christmas season in the beautifully decorated Santa Clara Mission Church.

In honor of Igor Stravinsky's 100th Birthday year, we invite you to a program featuring his monumental opus, The Rite of Spring, arranged by the composer for two pianos. Solo and duo works by American composers Frederic Rzewski and Tobias Picker will also be included in a celebration of music that evokes the spirit of the American heartland.

The Santa Clara University Orchestra presents concerts throughout the academic year, which explore the vision of composers from all eras. Classic orchestral masterworks and contemporary music are performed in engaging programs, which sometimes also feature SCU students who are winners of the Music Department's annual Concerto/Aria competition.
A new addition to the SCU Music faculty, John Kennedy is resident conductor and Director of Orchestra Activities of Spoleto Festival USA and is the founding Artistic Director of two leading national new music ensembles, New York's Essential Music and Santa Fe New Music.

The Santa Clara University Wind Symphony and Jazz Band present concerts throughout the academic year. These exciting programs feature music in the great concert band tradition, the bright energy of the Big Band era, and all the way forward to the jazz music of today.
Prior to joining the faculty at SCU, Dr. Douglas Harris served as the Director of Bands at Southern Utah University and enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a high school director in Florida.
