CHARLOTTE, N.C.

When author Suzanne Coffey Mielke contracted viral pneumonia at age 33, she had a near-death experience that altered the way she looked at life. When she woke from her medically-induced coma, she was left with a burning desire to find out why her life was spared. What was she suppose to accomplish?

Her new book, "Providence Road: A woman's search for purpose after a near death experience" (published by WestBow Press), chronicles Mielke's life-changing experience as she learns to live an abundant life.

It is not until Mielke meets William Flewellen Heard from Tupelo, Mississippi, that she discovers that it's not about the destination but the journey.

Mielke's goal for "Providence Road" is to challenge readers to be inspired to look for God in their life's journey. She hopes to remind them of his love and that he is always there for them.

She writes, "I want readers to be inspired to look for how God has been with them and acknowledge how wonderful it feels to know he is always there."
