After an electromagnetic pulse strikes the United States during the Rapture, Chas is trapped 600 miles away from home. Without modern electronics or transportation at his disposal, Chas has to find his way back through meager means. Not knowing friend from foe, with very limited law enforcement remaining, home barely seems like even a faint possibility.

Author Mike Arthur says he was inspired embark on a new campaign for "CHAS: Foreshadowing Destiny" (published by WestBow Press) in "the aftermath of 911," adding that the premise "is a scenario that is very relevant to (…) today's world and is very plausible (and that it) correlates to prophecy."

Arthur hopes readers will "consider the Biblical scriptures that are inserted (throughout) the book and the lessons to be learned."

An excerpt from "CHAS":
Chas awoke and felt an air of apprehension. It took him a little time to realize that everything was extremely quiet. Too quiet! He could not hear a sound, no road noise, no hum from the air-conditioner, just total dead silence. It was as if he was in a vacuum. The bedside alarm clock was dark and indiscernible. He reached for the lamp and turned the light switch. Nothing. He sat up in bed and tried to remember where he laid his clothes. He threw back the covers and placed his feet firmly on the floor. He felt his way over to the chair at the desk. He felt for his clothes, found them, and quickly pulled on his pants and shirt. He felt around on the floor, with his feet, searching for his socks and shoes. When he had them he finished dressing, checked his pockets and pulled out his lighter. He lit it and looked around his room in the small glimmer of light. Everything seemed all right, yet he had a sense of unease bordering on dread.
