Domestic abuse may be more common that what people think. When domestic violence survivor Mary Saunders eventually decided to commence the story of her life in 2010 and had embarked on the journey of writing her autobiography, she found that she had opened a Pandora's Box of emotions. She bares her soul and shares her remarkable journey of healing in Leave Abuse Behind.

For so many years during her domestic abuse, she had learnt to hide all of her emotions and appear to be emotionless, whilst hiding the turmoil inside her head and heart. The nightmares returned with vengeance. The only reason that she had to continue living was for her children and their safety.

"Life in the non-violent world is amazing as you no longer fear the person that you live with. Be aware that you will question whether or not you should return to the relationship. Do NOT return as it will probably be the single worst decision of your life," shares Saunders. "Be strong and in a year's time, when you look back at this time, you will be amazed at the strong person that you have become and what you have achieved."

Saunders' life as a domestic abuse victim was awful but somewhere hidden in her heart is a very small place, (locked away) that knows that she is a valued and deserving person. Her book will send shivers down readers' spine and they will feel very emotional at times, but that is normal. When readers (or their love ones) search for strength and courage to find a better life for themselves and their families that is when her story will encourage them to follow their hearts to find the solution to their abusive environment- leaving the relationship.

Evocative, enlightening and empowering, Leave Abuse Behind is designed to educate readers to identify domestic abuse perpetrators and hopefully prevent abuse. The final chapter shares contact links for each State in Australia for domestic abuse assistance, whether for safety, financial, children's counseling or other services you will be able to access them easily. It is an indispensable companion for people needing help and healing.
