G.W. Mullins has taken timeless folklore and crafted it into a new book series meant for adults. His updated take on the Polar Bear King and Snow Queen pay homage to the stories we all loved as children while making them more adventurous and not always allowing for a "happily ever after" ending.

In the enchanting kingdom of Summerland, the newly crowned King Valeman refuses to marry an evil witch. After being rejected, she reveals herself to be the infamous Snow Queen whose name strikes fear in all people. His refusal to align himself with the dark forces causes her to cast an enchantment upon him.

Her unbreakable spell changes him beyond belief. "By light one way, by night another. Your form will change you will soon discover. By day a beast of a bear you will be, at night a man while others sleep. To break this spell you much achieve, the love of another while being a beast."

Valeman is transformed into the Polar Bear King and given seven years to find true love or the enchantment will be permanent. His only other option to marry the Snow Queen.

While escaping north to the icy kingdom of Winterland, Valeman falls in love with a beautiful, young princess who sees beyond his frightening appearance to the kind man within. It is up to the princess to prevent the Snow Queen's wicked scheme, and break the spell on the Polar Bear King.

As the princess devises a plan to save King Valeman she learns that challenging a goddess has its own consequences. And soon both the princess and King Valeman come to realize sometimes fairy tales don't have happy endings.
