Winners of the Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests will be honored Sunday, April 14, at 6:30 pm, at the 29th Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards Ceremony taking place at the esteemed Wilshire Ebell Theatre.

It is indeed an honor for the communities and countries they are from, that these artists have won one of the most prestigious contests in science fiction and fantasy, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future.

"Out of a field of literally thousands of entrants," stated Joni Labaqui the Contests' director, "these 24 winners-and one published finalist-were chosen as the best new talent in the field of speculative fiction."

Labaqui went on to explain that as a merit competition, winners are chosen strictly on talent alone. Judging is blind with numbers replacing the names so that judges have no knowledge of the name, age, nationality or sex. "It is simply the best who are chosen each year," explained Labaqui. Over the course of the contests' history, entries have been received from over 165 countries.
