Author J. L. Higgs brings the fairy tales of Cinderella and Humpty Dumpty into the modern day. In "Ella: A Stepmum's Tale" (published by Balboa Press AU), readers will learn life lessons about not judging anyone by outward appearances alone.

Celebrity TV Reporter Sylvia Stark is determined to find a real investigative news story instead of the fluff she usually covers. She discovers just what she is searching for in the most unlikely person: Cinderella's evil stepmother, Charlotte Johansson Baker. Sylvia decides it is time this infamous old crone tells her side of the story, since everyone knows all about Cinderella. What she finds after talking to the cursed stepmother turns her world upside down. It becomes even more complicated when she and her cameraman are kidnapped. Who is the unlikely hero who rescues them from evil hands?

An excerpt from the book:
"Everyone should read and listen to the story of Cinderella if for no other reason than to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying values and perceptions that shape our modern world."

Blending humor with an intriguing plot, "Ella: A Stepmum's Tale" is a captivating retelling of two fairytales set in the modern world. It also imparts important lessons on judging people and overcoming obstacles.
