Before being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at age 50, Baittie's health was peaking and he was in outstanding physical condition. Shortly after receiving a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease in 2012, Baittie began journaling his experience in a blog, which he eventually turned into a book.

"My mission was to raise awareness and provide greater understanding and clarity in three ways: for myself-by examining my positive relationship with a chronic disease; for my three children-through sharing my beliefs and attitudes towards life; and for recently diagnosed Parkinson's patients-by removing some of the mystery surrounding the disease," Baittie explained.

"Ultimately, my hope is that 'Tremors in the Universe' offers a compass for those seeking to find their way back to a spiritual center, which will open their heart and mind to greater feelings of acceptance, of purpose, and love," Baittie continued. "The principles I share in the book are universal and contain the very truth needed to overcome any challenge and instill a renewed sense of life's purpose. It's about choice. We all can choose to be happy."

In the book, Baittie addresses his decision to participate in the Michael J. Fox Foundation's PPMI clinical trial. The goal of these studies is to isolate a biomarker that may lead or contribute toward developing a cure.

Baittie has made a commitment to fundraising on behalf of Parkinson's research, donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of "Tremors in the Universe" to the Michael J.
