I had a blast tonight at the last Chicago show here in Austin. It's was very cool and about 35 F. Anne Horak has a nice voice and the ensemble was amazing. Miss Terra C was her usual fabulous self. from RC in Austin, Texas...

Nov 24th, 2013 8:12 AM by Patti LuPone FANatic

Here is a picture of me with Terra C at the Bass Concert Hall stage door (Tues. Nov. 19, 2013). I made the acquaintance of a nice young lady by the name of Lauren, who seems to be interning with the tour. (My camera wasn't working properly.) Lauren took the picture from her smart phone. (more camera problems) Anyway, I'm hoping to see the 7pm show tonite. However, Austin will be experiencing some nasty winter weather (ice, sleet, etc.) We don't normally get snow. Hopefully, the show will...

Playbill Q and A with Jonny Orsini
Nov 19th, 2013 7:52 AM by Patti LuPone FANatic

He has the most striking eyes I've seen. I did have a chance to see him in "The Nance." It was a moving and poignant performance. In this questionnaire with Playbill, he does mention that he's not really a fan of musicals. Hmmm. I guess he'll be sticking with plays then. He really is talented in whatever he does. from RC in Austin, Texas (seeing Terra C and the cast of "Chicago" tonite here in town.)...

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 10/6/13
Oct 8th, 2013 10:28 PM by Patti LuPone FANatic

I was not familiar with the term "black box theatre", so I looked it up. A black box theater (or experimental theater) consists of a simple, somewhat unadorned performance space, usually a large square room with black walls and a flat floor. It is a relatively recent innovation in theatre.[1] Black box theatres became popular and widespread particularly in the 1960s and 1970s,[1] during which low-cost experimental theater was being actively practised as never before.[citation needed] Sin...

Congratulations To Chicago For 7000 Perfs...and Counting!
Sep 27th, 2013 2:01 PM by Patti LuPone FANatic

It is cool that Broadway World was able to obtain photos of the cast party for the 7000 performance. However, it's kind of strange that the male ensemble (and some of the female ensemble members) are left out of any pictures. To me, that's not cool at all. There are a few pictures where the same person is repeated. Could there not be a group picture of the entire ensemble? Somewhat bemused....

Well, it's obviously cheaper to run because of the way the show is built: simple monochromatic sets and skimpy costumes. Also, I get the sense that the Weisslers are also extremely "tight" with a buck...especially when it comes to salaries. I can understand the angst that some people feel about stunt casting and all. But that has helped the show last as long as it has. I can only imagine the number of musicals that have come and gone since the current revival opened. It's mind-boggling. Bu...

I don't see why people are getting their knickers in a twist about Liza. I love Liza. Many of you out there love Liza. But Liza is not the Liza of 10-20 years ago. She does not have the voice for such a demanding role as Norma Desmond. Catherine Zeta Jones is an inspired choice. How about Liz Callaway? She has played the role and has a phenomenal voice.
